Editorial Disclosure
This page states how Password Manager Lab makes money, how its articles are produced, and what does and does not affect what it publishes. It is deliberately short, because everything on it has to be true.
How this site is funded
No outbound link on this site currently carries a referral or affiliate parameter, and nothing here earns a commission on any password manager it covers. There is no sponsored content, no paid placement, no display advertising and no newsletter sponsorship.
Several articles used to carry a generic affiliate-disclosure line inherited from a shared template, naming products such as 1Password and Bitwarden. It was precautionary boilerplate rather than a description of an arrangement that existed, and it has been removed, because a disclosure that describes a relationship this site does not have is as inaccurate as omitting one that it does. If a real affiliate link is ever added, this page will say so first and the article carrying it will disclose it on the page.
Reviews and comparisons here are built from vendor security documentation, published third-party audits, whitepapers and public pricing, not from hands-on testing.
How articles are produced
Articles are researched from primary sources: vendor and project documentation, published standards and specifications, release notes, advisories, and measurements published by the people who took them. Drafts are produced with AI assistance and then edited against those sources before publication.
Articles are published under the Password Manager Lab Editorial byline. That is an editorial desk, not a named individual, and this site does not attribute its work to invented people with invented credentials. No article here claims hands-on lab testing, benchmarking, or first-hand measurement, and none should be read as a report of something this site physically tested. Where a number comes from a datasheet or someone else's measurement, the article says whose.
What influences coverage
- What readers of this topic are actually trying to find out
- Material changes to the software, hardware, or standards being covered
- Whether a primary source exists that is good enough to write from
What does not influence coverage
- Whether a vendor runs an affiliate or referral program
- What a program pays, where an affiliate link exists at all
- Whether a vendor has contacted this site
- Whether a topic is convenient for search traffic
Review samples and vendor relationships
This site does not accept review units, hardware loans, free licences, or gifts, and no article here is written from a vendor-supplied sample. It is not owned by, funded by, or operated by any of the vendors, projects, or platforms it covers.
